Vanuatu Prime Minister Jotham Napat has ordered the immediate cancellation of Lalit Modi’s Vanuatu passport, following recent media reports about the fugitive businessman’s legal troubles in India.“I have instructed the Citizenship Commission to immediately begin proceedings to cancel Lalit Modi’s Vanuatu passport. While all standard background checks, including Interpol screenings, conducted during his application showed no criminal convictions, I have been made aware in the past 24 hours that Interpol twice rejected Indian authorities' requests to issue an alert notice on Lalit Modi due to lack of substantive judicial evidence. Any such alert would have triggered an automatic rejection of Lalit Modi's citizenship application,” Napat stated.— PTI_News (@PTI_News) Citizenship Not a Right, Says Vanuatu PMNapat stressed that obtaining Vanuatu citizenship is a privilege, not a right. He clarified that applicants must have genuine reasons for seeking citizenship, which do not include evading legal proceedings.“None of those legitimate reasons include attempting to avoid extradition, which the recent facts brought to light clearly indicate was Lalit Modi’s intention,” Napat added.In recent years, Vanuatu has strengthened due diligence in its citizenship-by-investment programme. The government has implemented stricter vetting procedures, leading to more applications being rejected by the country’s financial intelligence unit. The process now includes multiple layers of verification, including Interpol checks.Modi’s Attempt to Surrender Indian PassportMeanwhile, Modi has applied to surrender his Indian passport at the Indian High Commission in London after acquiring Vanuatu citizenship. India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that his request would be reviewed under “extant rules and procedures.”“We are also given to understand that Lalit Modi has acquired the citizenship of Vanuatu. We continue to pursue the case against him as required under law,” an MEA spokesperson stated.India’s Efforts to Extradite ModiLalit Modi, the former chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has been facing legal proceedings in India over alleged financial irregularities. Indian authorities have repeatedly sought assistance from the UK in extraditing him. However, attempts to issue an Interpol Red Notice against him were rejected due to a lack of substantive judicial evidence.With Vanuatu moving to revoke his passport, Modi’s legal battles may intensify, as his options for safe havens diminish. Whether this development strengthens India’s efforts to bring him back remains to be seen.

एएनआई,अमरावती। तेलुगु देशम पार्टी (तेदेपा) के सांसद कालीसेट्टी अप्पाला नायडू ने महिलाओं को तीसरा बच्चा होने पर गिफ्ट देने का वादा किया है। अगर बच्चा लड़का हुआ तो गाय और लड़की हुई तो 50,000 रुपये दिए जाएंगे। सांसद ने कहा कि यह रकम वह अपने वेतन से देंगे।

सांसद ने यह एलान अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस के मौके पर एक कार्यक्रम में की। इस खबर से आंध्र प्रदेश में हलचल मच गई है। मुख्यमंत्री चंद्रबाबू नायडू समेत तेदेपा के कई नेता युवा आबादी घटने पर चिंता जता चुके हैं और इसे बढ़ाने की बात कर रहे हैं। सांसद अप्पलनायडू का यह कदम इसी दिशा में एक प्रयास माना जा रहा है।

क्यों लिया ये फैसला?

आंध्रप्रदेश के विजयनगरम से तेदेपा सांसद कालीसेट्टी अप्पाला नायडू ने कहा 

उनका यह कदम प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी और मुख्यमंत्री नायडू के आह्वान के बाद उठाया गया है। दोनों नेताओं ने जनसंख्या वृद्धि के लिए कदम उठाने और तीसरा बच्चा होने पर प्रोत्साहन देने की बात कही थी। उन्होंने कहा कि पचास हजार रुपये का बैंक में फिक्सड डिपाजिट करेंगे, जो रकम बेटी की शादी की उम्र तक दस लाख रुपये हो जाएगी।

महिलाओं ने दिया ऐसा रिएक्शन

• तेदेपा सांसद की यह घोषणा इंटरनेट मीडिया में तेजी से प्रसारित हो रही है।
• इंटरनेट मीडिया पर अप्पा नायडू की इस पेशकश को तेदेपा नेता और कार्यकर्ता पूरे जोरशोर से साझा कर रहे हैं।
• तेदेपा नेताओं का दावा है कि महिलाओं ने भी इस घोषणा को हाथोंहाथ लिया है और वह इसे लेकर काफी उत्साहित हैं। 
• इससे पहले, मार्च में ही दिल्ली दौरे के दौरान मुख्यमंत्री चंद्रबाबू नायडू ने भी चिंता जताते हुए कहा था कि दक्षिण भारत में आबादी के उम्रदराज होने से कई चुनौतियां बढ़ती जा रही हैं।
• जबकि उत्तर प्रदेश और बिहार जैसे राज्यों की जनसंख्या खासी युवा है।

सीएम नायडू ने भी की तारीफ

इसलिए अब जनसंख्या नियंत्रण के बजाय दीर्घावधि के जनसंख्या नियोजन की आवश्यकता है। सीएम नायडू ने घोषणा की थी कि सभी महिला कर्मचारियों को प्रसव के समय मातृत्व अवकाश दिया जाएगा, चाहे उनके कितने भी बच्चे हों।
